課程概述 |
This advanced graduate seminar on brain and cognition is specifically designed to promote learning through dialogue and critical discourse. During each meeting, we will hold in-depth discussions of issues, including the comparison of operational and conceptual definitions, methodological approaches and problems, and theoretical strengths and weaknesses. My job will be to direct the discussion, pose questions and provide necessary background information. Your job will be to contribute to the intellectual climate of our discussions through class participation. This will require that you read assignments and prepare prior to each class. The major goal of this seminar is for you to further develop critical thinking and writing skills that will promote three broad learning objectives as describe below. |

1. To critically evaluate empirical research and form your own ideas about select topics in the literature
2. To improve your ability to communicate ideas to professionals and members of the community through conversation, formal presentations and writing.
3. To critically consider and examine important "next steps" in the research being conducted. |
